Arnon Meroz (1940-2011) was born in France, and immigrated to Israel in 1949. He was raised and educated at Kibbutz Yad Mordecai. Arnon studied music education, conducting and composition at the Tel Aviv Music Teachers College and the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem. He worked as a teacher and conductor of children's and adult choirs, and served on the faculty of the Hebrew University and the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem.

In 1983, Arnon founded the Ankor Choir of the Conservatory of the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem, and was its conductor and artistic director until 1990. During this period the choir had many fine achievements in Israel and abroad, including radio and television recordings and performances with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva.

Arnon was among the proponents of the performance of contemporary vocal music in Israel. He introduced many generations of children to the world of music, and many of his students have become professional musicians.

This album brings together a selection of his arrangements for choir.
