The product of many years of research, this book presents a selection of tunes in use in the various Hassidic courts. In making the selection, the editors attempted to represent the most important Hassidic courts in Israel: Bobov, Boyan, Gur, Vizhnitz, Lubavitch, Modzhitz, Slonim, Karlin, and the new communities founded by R. Aharon (Arele) Roth - "Shomre Emunim" and "Toldot Aharon." Each section is preceded by a useful introduction, and most of the tunes are annotated. Singers and instrumentalists will find suggestions for performing this music in a way suitable to the special Hassidic style and manners.
