Overview
Daniel Akiva, guitar and lute artist, is an accomplished composer who has written music for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, choir, and orchestra. His compositions have been performed and recorded by many musicians in his native Israel and abroad. Much of Akiva’s music has been
inspired by the music of the Sephardic (Spanish) Jews which he has researched for many years.
In 1992, the First Channel of the Israel Television network broadcast a six-part series entitled "Jerusalem in Spain." The series was presented by Yitzhak Navon, the fifth President of Israel, who visited cities and sites related to the glorious past of Spanish Jewry, their persecution, and subsequent expulsion. Daniel Akiva composed and arranged the music for the series, which was translated into five languages and broadcast in many countries throughout the world. In 1999, Akiva revised the music and this recording was made.
